AFG OPEN OCTOBER ECLIPSE 2026
THE FIRST-EVER BJJ GOLD MEDAL FROM THE BJJ INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT
On behalf of PKWAYBOY ACADEMY, an officially registered and approved homeschool under the Bangkok Primary Educational Service Area Office, Ministry of Education of Thailand, we would like to express our warmest congratulations to Wayboy - Phaallhaakorn Kuslopakorn, a Grade 2 student, for his courage in competing at the international Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) tournament, AFG OPEN OCTOBER ECLIPSE 2026.
This tournament was another meaningful lesson for Wayboy. Although this was his second time competing in a tournament, on the morning of DAY 1 Wayboy still felt a bit nervous, as BJJ is a vast and complex sport that requires continuous learning and practice on the mat. Wayboy struggled a bit to maintain his focus and composure while waiting nearly 4 hours for his match, having to work through his own pre-match nerves. On DAY 2, however, Wayboy felt much more comfortable and was able to settle his mind and stay focused on his matches.
Once again, while it may not have been Wayboy’s absolute best performance, this tournament provided invaluable experience and a vital lesson for his future growth. It serves as an important foundation for developing his skills in both BJJ and Sport Ju-Jitsu, while teaching him how to regulate his mind and emotions before a match and how to manage his own ego. In this tournament, he achieved the following results:
1 Gold Medal – Kids Boys Gi / Beginner (White Belt) / Age 7–8 / +30 kg
1 Silver Medal – Kids Boys No-Gi / Beginner (White Belt) / Age 7–8 / +30 kg
This tournament marks a proud milestone for Wayboy: winning the very first Gold Medal of his life. Competing in BJJ is notoriously tough and demanding—and the older you get, the harder and more intense it becomes. Beyond offensive techniques, an athlete must practice self-defense, escapes from disadvantageous positions, counters, opponent control, and proper body control and mechanics, alongside a solid understanding of countless movements and rules. It also requires understanding the limits of one’s own endurance and how to manage risk and stay safe when caught in a submission. As the saying goes: "BJJ is for everyone, but not everyone is for BJJ."
On this occasion, PKWAYBOY ACADEMY would like to extend our sincere gratitude to MIRANDA FIGHT TEAM
Miranda fight bjj, a premier martial arts and self-defense academy specializing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), led by Mestre
Augusto Miranda, as well as the international youth athletes who trained together, all parents who share this journey, and our family team brother
Masso Terrance and sister Lana for looking after everyone throughout the tournament. Thank you for your dedicated support in fostering knowledge and developing martial arts skills for all the young athletes on the team.
And our special thank you goes to Kru Totto of Heavy Martial Arts for providing matside coaching and guidance to Wayboy during his matches, helping him build confidence and bring out his inner strength on his way to winning his first gold medal. We would also like to thank the friends and senior teammates from Heavy Martial Arts for helping Wayboy with his morning warm-ups, the team parents for cheering him on, and Kru Naum for training and guiding Wayboy during his Sunday sessions.
We also extend our appreciation to the entire
AFG OPEN International organizing team for hosting a wonderful international tournament, helping raise the standard of competition and reputation of Thailand to an international level.
Lastly, PKWAYBOY ACADEMY wishes to congratulate all youth athletes—both from our team and fellow academies—on their hard-earned achievements. May you all continue to learn, grow, and succeed in every step of your journey.
